Solero is an Oil and Acrylic painting based on a picture taken by my mum on a holiday a few years ago. I didn’t know she was taking the picture and she said it looked like a renaissance painting which I thought was funny. At the time, I remember finding it difficult to look at the picture but I thought of it recently and felt the need to paint it. My body has never felt like it belongs to me- I often feel at odds with it. At any given point in my life, you are more likely to find me in my head. It’s easier to be kinder to your body when you’re napping in a painting. The colours in Solero make me think of lilos, beach balls, the feeling of bright, warm sun on my eyelids and the need to come back to my body more often.
